Motivation-Yes You Can!
Do you know the feeling: You want something to happen, but it's just incredibly difficult to motivate yourself to do so? There are important tasks ahead, but are you pushing them with 1000 excuses instead of tackling them?
YES?
Then we have to change that!
Both at work and at home, you need motivation to achieve goals and get results. Motivation requires a certain level of self-knowledge, communication, organization and incentives.
Here are the tips on how you can motivate yourself and others:
Have fun:
Work is funniest when it doesn't feel like work. So have fun with everything you do and let your surroundings participate. A positive environment leads to better results in all work and life situations.
Show gratitude:
Recognition, praise and rewards create eager and productive people. Gratitude is something that costs nothing but is incredibly valuable.
Keep it simple:
Why complicated when it can be easy? Don't try to make things unnecessarily difficult. Everything that is simple is more fun.
Set short and long term goals:
Use short and long term goals as a guide for both your actions and the achievement of your mission. Always make sure that you don't set too many goals at the same time. This is important to avoid confusion. Better concentrate your energy on a few, but essential goals.
Set performance incentives:
Certain incentives make people more motivated to perform well. With a view to the various forms of incentives, i.e. from more salary to more responsibility to more fun (very important), it also becomes clear that not all incentives are equally effective or have the same meaning for everyone. So choose wisely.
make appointments:
Many people are most productive shortly before a big appointment. It's also harder to distract and is more focused when a deadline is getting closer. Use that to your advantage and set a series of mini appointments.
Give detailed instructions:
If you want something to be done properly, give proper instructions. A proper instruction always answers the 5 W questions (who?, How?, What?, Where?, Why?). People work better and happier when they know exactly what to do and what to expect.
Be polite:
Be nice to people and get them on your side, they will help you as best they can. Be an asshole and people will do everything they can to ignore you wherever possible.
Promote team spirit:
Create an environment that promotes camaraderie. People work more effectively when they feel that they are part of a team, that they belong to them. A good team won't let anyone down. A good team goes through thick and thin together.
Set and reward intermediate goals:
Always set a few intermediate goals on the way to your final goal. It is nice when you reach these points. In this way, you are constantly made aware that you are on the right path. Reward yourself when you have reached it (e.g. with a short break).
Satisfy personal needs:
Think about and satisfy personal needs of you and your team members. What is it that we really need? What makes us happy? By considering and understanding needs, people stay happy and productive.
Concentrate on the result:
Nobody likes it when you are constantly looked over your shoulder at work and constantly receive advice from know-it-alls. Make it clear to yourself what you want to achieve and concentrate 100% on it. Avoid people who are constantly telling you what they would do. That slows down your enthusiasm.
Fittingly: What really motivates us? - Certainly not reward and punishment
Show trust and respect
Give people the trust and recognition they deserve. On the one hand it is a sublime feeling for yourself and on the other hand you get more attention and respect from people.
Set new challenges:
It's just fun if you keep devoting yourself to something new. You move away from old and boring habits and bring a breath of fresh air into your life. This makes room for new rushes of enthusiasm.
Promote creativity:
Be creative yourself and promote creativity with all those around you. Don't always expect things to be done the way you would do them. Your variant is always just one of many. The opportunity to be creative makes people more optimistic, creates a positive environment, and often leads to brilliant ideas.
Criticize constructively:
Often people do not realize that they are doing something wrong or that they are on the wrong path. Tell them. Restrict yourself to facts and then look for a solution together or offer a compromise. Most people want to improve and will try to do it right if they know how to do it.
Obtain suggestions for improvement:
Don't stagnate. Search for suggestions for improvement in a wide variety of life situations. Every time you set your bar a little higher, the motivation to overcome it increases.
Create opportunities:
Always remember your own abilities and the possibilities that arise. Help your environment do the same. New opportunities inspire and can lead to tremendous dynamism.
Pay attention:
Always keep all communication channels open. With an open ear and a trained eye, many problems can be avoided before they even arise.
Do it exciting:
Action baby. If you've always had to do the same thing, make sure you make it exciting. If you're responsible for people, don't ask them to do the same all the time. A stimulating environment creates enthusiasm and the opportunity for thinking on a large scale.
Reward yourself:
A short trip, a beer, a visit to the cinema. There are many ways to reward yourself. It is important that you become aware of your own performance. If you do not internally appreciate what you have achieved, then there is no reason to continue. By rewarding yourself you say to yourself: “Great! You are on the right way!"
