Amazon Will Open A New Robotic Logistics Center In Seville
This new center, the fourth in Spain and equipped with cutting-edge technology, will generate more than 1,000 permanent jobs in the region in the next three years.
Amazon has announced that this summer it will open its new robotic logistics center in Seville, equipped with cutting-edge technology. With this new center, located in the municipality of Dos Hermanas, Amazon will create more than 1,000 permanent jobs in three years , in addition to the 7,000 permanent jobs existing in Spain.
"We are proud to expand our network of operations with this new logistics center in Seville, equipped with state-of-the-art robotic technology, " said Roy Perticucci, Vice President of Amazon Customer Fulfilment in Europe . "Since we started our commercial activities in Spain in 2011, we have invested more than 2,900 million euros in infrastructure and facilities, transport and shipping, as well as wages and benefits for our employees. In addition, we have also committed to invest in renewable energy as a critical step to combat our carbon footprint globally . "
We continue to invest strongly in Spain, employing thousands of talented people who receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package from day one, " said Roy Perticucci.
The logistics center located in the municipality of Dos Hermanas, just 14 km from Seville, will be equipped with the advanced technology of Amazon Robotics . This technology is part of the innovations that Amazon has introduced to support logistics center employees, since it reduces the time used to move around, by making the shelves come to them.
It is the fourth robotized center of Amazon in Spain , joining those of El Prat and Castellbisbal, and a robotized distribution center in Barberá del Vallés. This new center will be used by the company to store, prepare and manage products, supporting Amazon's operations in Spain and throughout Europe.
The new logistics center is being built with sustainability as the central axis. It will have integrated energy-saving technology, which will help reduce our CO2 footprint. Likewise, it will have solar panels on the roof, and low energy consumption systems, such as the use of LEDs. Ventilation systems will include heat and energy recovery technology, and the windows, roof and facades will have high thermal efficiency to ensure insulation.
